Whitworth College a four-year private
liberal arts university that has been offering undergraduate and graduate
degree programs since 1890. The college is affiliated with the Presbyterian church and is rooted in
Christian ideology. The university has been ranked by
U. S. News & World Report 2008 as "Third in Best Values, Master's-Level Colleges and Universities (West)" and "Nine in Best Master's-Level Colleges and Universities (West)." Whitworth's mission is to provide an "
education of mind and heart."
Some of the programs at WC include communication arts, biology, theater arts administration and others. The university caters to traditional and non-traditional students alike offering comprehensive adult degrees program in
liberal arts education and more. Convenience is added with evening classes and accelerated format courses.
Whitworth College features a 200-acre campus with numerous state of the art facilities for students to take advantage of. Among them is the Whitworth Aquatics Center featuring a six
Lane, 40 yard course. Students can choose from more than 20 varsity sports through the athletics programs at Whitworth. There are programs for men and women in such areas as golf, soccer, swimming volleyball and tennis. The program is affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletics Association at the division III level and is a member of the Northwest Conference.
Whitworth students have plenty of other clubs and organizations to get involved with on campus with more than 30 being offered. Some clubs and organizations include the pre med club, the Chess club and more. Students at WC will also find a diverting community in the city of Spokane. This city offers a variety of activities and cultural attractions such as art galleries, Broadway shows, numerous restaurants and a variety of outdoor activities.
Whitworth College offers many scholarships for both freshman and transfers students, including the Presidential scholarship, the Transfer Academic Scholarship and more. Whitworth also was named one of Kiplinger's top 50 best values among private universities nationwide.
