William Carey University, founded in 1906, is a fully accredited, four-year Christian university affiliated with the Mississippi Baptist Convention. WCU's main campus is located in Hattiesburg, Mississippi with two other campuses in Gulfport, Mississippi and New Orleans, Louisiana. On 120 acres, the main campus is conveniently located on the south side of the city, less than 100 miles from the state capital of Jackson, as well as the Gulf Coast, New Orleans and Mobile.

William Carey University offers baccalaureate degrees in the areas of the arts and letters, education, natural and behavioral sciences, business, religion, music, and nursing. Graduate students can pursue a Master of business Administration, Master of Education, Master of Science in Counseling Psychology, Master of Music in Music Education, and a Master of Science in Nursing. WCU works on a trimester system of eleven weeks each. Two summer sessions are also offered.
