Founded in the city of Paterson in 1855, William Paterson University is one of nine state colleges and universities in
New Jersey. Located on a 370-acre wooded and landscaped campus with more than 38 major buildings, sculptures and even a waterfall, the campus is just 20 miles west of New York City. William Paterson also features laboratories devoted to
arts and sciences, acres of property for environmental research, an E*TRADE Financial Learning Center, and the Russ Berrie Institute for Professional Sales.
William Paterson University has nearly 10,500 students and more than 370 full-time faculty members. The average undergraduate class contains about 19 students, and the student to faculy ratio is 15 to one.
William Paterson University offers 35 undergraduate, 19 graduate programs and more than 500 courses through its five colleges, which include: Arts and Communication; College of
business;
education;
humanities and Social Sciences; and Science and Health. Certification is available in early childhood, elementary, secondary, and special education. Pre-professional programs in dentistry, law,
medicine, and veterinary medicine are arranged at the request of students.
