Wingate University is a four-year private university located in Wingate,
North Carolina offering a diverse range of undergraduate, graduate and pre-professional programs. Undergraduate programs are offered in areas such as arts and sciences,
business, education and sports sciences, with majors ranging from environmental biology to public relations to sports management. Wingate University also includes the School of Graduate and Adult Education, providing non-traditional students with convenient class schedules and several degree programs.
Wingate University was founded in 1896. The University consist of a roughly 425-acre scenic campus with more than 33 state-of-the-art facilities. Some facilities include the Ethel K. Smith Library, offering a print collection of over 100,000 volumes as well as the George A Batte Jr. Fine Arts Center. This massive facility includes an art gallery, recital hall, music center and theatre, which seats more than 550 people.
Wingate University offers numerous extra curricular actives for students with more than 40 clubs and organizations available as well as more than 16 varsity sports teams. Some clubs student can take advantage of include the International Club, the
Christian Student Union, the Biology Club and more. Sports programs offered for both men and women include golf, volley ball, football, basketball, lacrosse and more. Over 50 percent of Wingate University students reportedly participate in intercollegiate or intramural sports. Wingate's award winning Athletics Department is a member of the NCAA Division II.
