Programs offered in this setting are designed to provide a broad based competency in a field of applied
business or science. These programs cover a wide variety of relevant subject matter, with a distribution of general, basic, and technical courses.
The objective of these programs at Zane State College is employment. However, though the programs are not designed with transferability of credits to a baccalaureate or advanced degree in mind, credits earned at Zane State College are accepted by many colleges and universities.

Established on September 19, 1969 as the Muskingum Area Technical Institute, the campus later moved to a location shared with Ohio University-Zanesville, a regional campus of Ohio University. The school changed names to the Muskingum Area Technical College in 1972, and to the current name on June 14, 2004.
