Mid Atlantic Christian university (MACU), located in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, is a coeducational private school whose teachings are based on traditional readings of the Bible. Founded in 1948, it is MACU's mission is to impact the world by transforming ordinary people into exraordinary Christian leaders!

Mid Atlantic Christian University's four-year bachelor of arts and bachelor of science programs are at the core of its academics. All of these four-year degree programs yield a major in Bible and theology. This may take the form of a biblical studies major or a biblical exposition major. Students are also to complete a professional studies track. Additionally, the North Carolina college offers more than a half-dozen minors, such as Christian education, elementary education, and worship and music ministry. Associate Degrees are offered, as well, in applied science, early childhood studies and the Bible. Mid Atlantic Christian University employs nearly 50 faculty and staff members at present. The student-to-faculty ratio is just slightly over 8-to-1, with an average class size of 15 students.

Some of the bachelor's degree programs include the completion of an internship, carried out within a nearby institution, organization or congregation. Every Mid Atlantic Christian University student participates in educational community service programs, fulfilling actual service necessities in the areroa, while gaining an understanding of the personal transformations such work can bring. In addition to providing opportunities for financial assistance, MACU has a tuition cost that is about 50 percent less than the average private college on a national scale.

At the time of this North Carolina College's foundation, an article, called the Statement of Faith, was composed to articulate the underlying beliefs of MACU's educational program. The Statement of Faith has remained unaltered. Mid Atlantic Christian University requires of all its teachers, administrators, officers, and staff that they reaffirm, each year, their unreserved belief in its declarations. The Statement of Faith asserts, among other beliefs, that Jesus Christ is the sole and divine Son of God, that the Bible's Holy Scriptures were inspired by God's word, and that salvation is to be found solely through Christ.
