PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS:
1. The Healthcare Information Specialist (Medical Billing/Coding) is a competency-based certificate program to provide for the development of knowledge and skills required for entry-level employment in the area of medical billing/coding.
2. Information Systems Administration (AS)The Associate of Applied Science Degree in Information Systems Administration is a competency-based program designed to provide for development of knowledge and skills required to design, administer, and support Information Technology for an organization. The curriculum is comprised of four unique Information Systems tracks rooted on a general education foundation. Each of the core tracks is designed to leverage academic relationships from industry recognized vendors including; CompTia, Cisco Systems, Microsoft, and VMware. The aggregate result provides an in-depth exploration of Information Systems administration and support. Instruction consists of lecture reinforced by laboratory projects that are designed to deliver real world simulation to the core competencies required for employment in the Information Technology Industry. The Information Systems Administration Program is designed to prepare students for a career in the Information Technology industry as Enterprise Support Technicians, Network Technicians, Systems Administrators, Network Engineers, and Network Security Specialist. Students successfully completing the program would obtain a strong background and industry certification opportunities in the following core sub-disciplines: computer hardware and software, network administration, systems administration, database administration, email administration, information security, and virtualization technologies. The Associate of Applied Science in Information Systems Administration consists of 72 semester hours and 1472 contact hours, and is 56 weeks (day) and 72 weeks (evening) in length.
3. Business Management (BS) The Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management program consists of 125 semester hours divided into fourteen eight-week terms where the student will take nine semester hours each term.
The objective of the program is to produce a graduate who understands the diverse areas of business and correlates each element to the overall goals and productivity of the organization. Upon graduation students will be prepared to enter a variety of careers in domestic or global business at the professional level.
A first year student will begin the program by developing their critical thinking ability, communication skills, and the foundation needed for future development in quantitative reasoning through general education coursework. The curriculum will follow with a set of core business courses, these are the courses needed to prepare the student to launch into their upper level business curriculum.
The upper level business curriculum is designed to produce well-rounded business leaders; leaders that know the elements of power and understand how to use and respect those elements to drive an organization forward. The curriculum prepares the students for the ongoing innovation in technology and changes in our global economy and how to contribute to the innovation while managing the risks involved. The curriculum most importantly contributes to the personal development of the student creating graduates who can effectively analyze their present situation (personal/professional), strategize and manage a plan then embark upon a successful future.
4. Accounting Certificate (On Line Program) The Certificate in Accounting is a competency-based program designed to provide for development of the working knowledge and skills required for an entry-level position in healthcare, business, industry, or government environments. It is designed for those seeking entry-level employment and for those currently employed who re seeking advancement.
Students will learn business, accounting, and customer service procedures. They will learn various basic computer software application programs, build teamwork skills and acquire oral, written, and electronic communication skills. Students will be able to define and apply basic concepts of accounting, business, taxes, and payroll. They will research, organize, and present various business documents; explain internal and external customer relationships; discuss how to diffuse conflict in an office environment; manage internal controls concerning cost and budgeting; and recognize and correct financial problems.
The program will prepare the student to sit for the Fundamental Payroll Certification exam (administered by the American Payroll Association) and the Certified Bookkeeper exam (administered by the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers. Requirements for obtaining the Certified Bookkeeper designation include passing the exam and completing two years of bookkeeping experience before or after taking the exam. The Certificate in Accounting is 39 semester hours, 736 contact hours and approximately 26 weeks in length.
4. Medical Assistant (AS) The Medical Assistant Associate of Applied Science Degree is a competency-based medical assistant training program designed to give you the knowledge and skills required for entry-level employment in allied healthcare industry, corporate business, or government environments. It is a 12 month program for those seeking entry-level employment or for those currently employed in the healthcare environment who are seeking a promotion.
5. Medical Assistant (Cerificate) The Medical Assistant Certificate Program is competency-based education designed to give you the knowledge and skills required for entry-level employment in outpatient healthcare industry, corporate business, or government environments.
